Remembering Ben

We are saddened to say that our Brother Ben Hernandez left us Monday morning at about 5:30 AM. He was a vibrant and doggedly determined brother like no one else I have ever known. Ben put on some of the most successful conferences in our history and it would be fair to say that his contributions kept the ministry afloat more than once.

I had the privilege of traveling many, many miles with Ben and Eleanor during which we really got to know each other very well. We attended several retreats in Sonora and got lost every time we went, but it was great fun and we arrived safely.

I’ve often said that if you look up the word persistent in the dictionary, Ben’s picture would be beside the definition! He always fought the good fight and he finished the race.

Ben and Eleanor recently moved to Henderson, Nevada and were getting settled in. Ben was in touch with the Knights of Columbus and was having conversations about starting a men’s group in the area. I am sure he would have gotten it done and I pray someone will.

One of Ben’s biggest accomplishments was getting CMF approved in the Archdiocese of San Bernardino. It took Ben five years to complete all the requirements needed to be approved.

Ben and Eleanor were getting settled in their new home and were very excited about having their own private living arrangements. I spoke with Ben often and he was finally getting his life in order and there was a great peace in his voice.

I will never forget Ben as my friend and my brother. He made a huge impact on Catholic Men’s Fellowship and I pray he will never be forgotten.

Please keep Ben and Eleanor in your prayers. Rest in peace, Ben! May our Lord’s Perpetual

Light shine upon you.

Your brother in Christ,

Michael Haddock, Past President
